The banchan here is so good! They have a really great selection of side dishes and their tofu soup combos are perfect to share with someone else. I went with my boyfriend, so we were able to share the combo plus another item as well like to try multiple things on the menu. The service was really quick and the price for all the food we got was really fair. I loved the galbi and the pork tofu soup!
I've been here a few times and it's a solid Korean spot. We were seated right away on a Saturday around 12:15 pm. I had the seafood kalguksu and my sister has the beef tofu stew. The kalguksu noodles were nice and chewy and the broth was tasty and it came with so much seafood! But I do wish there were other options besides seafood since I'm not the biggest fan of octopus and clams. The beef tofu stew was also good and flavorful. Both portions were huge and the side dishes were pretty good, we were stuffed by the end! I would come back to try their other dishes.
I've been here a few times and finally leaving a review. Was seated right away on a Saturday lunch around 12PM and found parking relatively easily. I enjoyed their beef tofu stew ($18), it wasn't too spicy but could be a bit more flavorful. It was a large portion and the purple rice was tasty! My sister got the seafood kalguksu ($18) which was yummy but I wish there was another option with no seafood. Their menu is extensive and I would come back to try other dishes
If you're looking for some authentic Korean dishes, definitely try this spot out! Great banchans, all very fresh and tasty.
My friends and I recently celebrated a birthday at Grandma Tofu and Korean BBQ, and it was an amazing experience! One of our friends was craving raw marinated crabs, and this place, along with Chon Ju Jip, was the only spot in San Diego we could find that served it. I'm so glad we chose this place! I hadn't been here in over ten years, and I don't remember it being this good. We ordered the Budae Big Pot (army stew), which was supposed to feed two, but my three friends and I couldn't even finish it, and we only had one other dish, the spicy raw marinated crab. The birthday girl loved the crabs, and though I tried a couple of bites and another friend tried one, it wasn't really for us since we don't usually eat raw foods. However, it was creamy, buttery, and not fishy at all--better than sushi in my opinion. The army stew was delicious, and we ordered extra udon and ramen noodles. The soup was so flavorful, and the free purple rice was the best I've had. The side dishes were amazing with unlimited refills, and the Korean servers were so nice and welcoming. These two dishes cost around $80, so with tip, it was just over $100--a great deal for four people. The parking lot is small and can be tough to navigate since there are many good foodie places in the same plaza, so we went just before lunch, and the parking lot was completely empty.
We live in Vista. Over the years, we have had the privilege of tasty food, bakeries, and tea shops coming to town and or nearby in North County. But no tofu! Or cold noodles! At this quality and price. So! We still travel to Convoy for Grandma's Tofu. We love their tofu offerings, pork, beef, and, on occasion, their seafood option. And during the summer, we love their cold noodles. You cannot beat them. The price, the quality, for tofu stew or cold noodles, they are simply the best. The only downside is that sometimes the, although friendly service, does run a little slow. But, we don't care. These places are gems and the wait is worth it. I literally, and sincerely, I am a HUGE foodie, had the best bowl of cold noodles today. I run hot. I sweat a lot. Today was a hot one. And I was cooled down and refreshed by their delicious bowl of cold noodles. Highly recommend. We will be back and back again. See you there next time!
My friends and I wanted to enjoy some Korean food and one of them recommended we go here. I ordered one of their cold noodle dishes and found it refreshing. This place gave a lot of side dishes and we tried to figure out which ones we liked the best. The workers here were really nice while sometimes difficult to reach since it was busy when we went. The please was a bit loud but overall enjoyed the experience.
I came here with my daughter and boyfriend. We ordered the Seafood big pot (stew), Ddukbokki, and seafood pancake. It was a lot of food for 3 people! Really great flavors, tasted authentic! I loved how the portions are huge, intended to be eaten family style, just like at grandma's house! Great ambiance that feels like home!
Been coming here for years and nothing I've ordered has ever let me down or made me feel regret. Whether you're ordering the tofu soup, BBQ, or appetizers you always leave satisfied. On top of that, the banchan ALWAYS tastes freshly made and always hits the spot. Other places have the driest fish cake and it makes you wonder how long it's been sitting on the counter. It's too good to let the banchan go to waste. Service is fast, but they still maintain quality, so no complaints here. Great for groups of 4 This is my first time getting the spicy raw marinated crab. It's about 6 whole crabs you can probably split between 2-3 people for $30. It is not too spicy, more on the mild end. Some places make it too spicy sometimes. I'd come back for the spicy raw crabs again. Seafood pancake - good mix of meat and veggies. Not too much. Not too little. It's super crispy on the outside but not burnt. Japchae - good flavors and not bland. It's not overpowered by sesame oil like most places. You can't go wrong with dumplings either whether it's fried or boiled.
